BlueModus Helps Saint Isidore Parish Put The Wind Back Into Their Pipes

Taming digital technology is one thing when it comes to helping a Global 500 brand reach millions of consumers, however, leveraging technology to bring music back to the congregation of a historic Colorado parish is a completely different challenge.

According to Dave Conder, CTO and co-Founder of BlueModus, “The current organ at Saint Isidore’s Parish in Watkins, Colorado was obtained when the church was first built. While the organ’s console was in great shape and had served the church well for the most part, it was starting to suffer from the effects of age. Several of the ranks and stops do not work at all, others have tuning issues as the organ warms up, and more are failing on a consistent basis. Some of the capacitors in the tone generator section were starting to leak as well. In fact, several years ago the organ’s amplifiers caught on fire during Mass and had to be replaced. It was clear that the organ’s time was coming to an end.”
Conder added, "a new digital organ, designed for the size of Saint Isidore’s and purchased through an organ dealer, would have cost anywhere between $50k and $80k. A real pipe organ would have cost at least $500k. Because of the prohibitive cost, neither of these solutions was viable for the parish."
“However”, Conder added, “there was another option to consider, and one BlueModus could help with. Over the last few years, a new PC-based technology had been brought into the marketplace. This technology, driven the by the market leader called Hauptwerk, allows realistic-sounding organs to be created using a computer, carefully constructed sample sets, and MIDI Hardware.

“With this in mind, we were excited to help though a financial contribtion to help with the purchase of this cutting-edge technology and help drive bring music back to the church reminiscent of years past."
