Creating Possibilities Through Digital Technology
Posted by BlueModus News on August 20, 2015
This August, BlueModus has made a $500 donation to Denver-based non-profit OpenWorld Learning (OWL) as part of its monthly Give Back campaign. The OWL program supports children’s school success by tapping the power of digital technology and peer teaching to develop leadership and ignite a love of learning in Colorado elementary students.
Since 2000, OpenWorld Learning has been providing challenging educational programs to Denver-area students, and is focused on teaching advanced computer technology. OWL offers their after-school and summer programs to students in 3rd through 8th grades in local Title I schools, providing many students with real-world learning opportunities they might otherwise not have access to.
Students enrolled in the OWL program learn approximately 30% more essential technology skills, compared to their non-OWL counterparts. The program has also been proven to improve school attendance and standardized test scores, particularly in math. Many students in these programs return later as staff or to volunteer their time as peer educators.
In honor of the 15th anniversary of this fantastic organization, an anonymous donor is currently matching all donations up to $100,000. This means the impact of all donations is currently doubled, including the one made by BlueModus. If you want to donate as part of the OpenWorld Learning $100,000 Match Challenge, you can do so here.
